Turkey’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 28 to total 4,397 and new confirmed cases rose by 948 to bring the country’s total to 158,762, Health Ministry data showed on May 26.
“There is an important increase in the number of recovering patients. The number of patients in intensive care and incubation continues to decrease,” Health Minister Fahrettin Koca wrote on Twitter.
Turkey is currently under a four-day nationwide lockdown for the Eid al-Fitr holiday to curb the spread of the virus.
The curfew came into effect across the country’s 81 provinces at midnight on May 22, a day before Eid, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. It will end at midnight on May 26.
