Street weddings and large gatherings have been banned in all provinces, the Turkish Interior Ministry said on Sept. 2. Wedding ceremonies have been also limited to an hour, with a ban on dancing and serving of food. The announcement came after Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that the country was experiencing the second wave of COVID-19 infections as the daily death toll has been lately exceeding 40.

Street weddings and large celebrations will be banned in all provinces in Turkey, a Sept. 2 decree from the Interior Ministry said amid a rising number of COVID-19 diagnoses and deaths in the country.

People aged 65 and above and under 15, who are not first and second degree relatives of the bride and groom, will not be allowed to attend the weddings.
At least one public officer will attend the wedding ceremonies to monitor the measures.
Turkey is witnessing the second peak of the pandemic as single-day deaths rose to above 40 over the past three days, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said earlier on Sept. 2.
So far, Turkey has registered a total of 6,462 deaths due to COVID-19, while over 246,000 people have recovered from the disease. Currently, there are nearly 274,000 confirmed cases in the country.
