Turkey's western province of Sakarya is "penalizing" anyone who has violated COVID-19 precautions with mandatory readings, Sakarya Governor Çetin Oktay Kaldırım said on Sept. 10.
"In today's inspections, we fined 65 people who weren't wearing masks 900 liras each, imposed a three-day mandatory quarantine and a mandatory reading of at least 10 books each," the governor tweeted.

The governor's office will continue to conduct inspections and "implement precautions" in a strict way, the governor added.
The province had previously decided to place violators of COVID-19 quarantine in public dormitories and charge the patients for the costs.
