Young man attacked for speaking Kurdish dies after 50 days

Nineteen-year-old seasonal laborer Şirin Tosun, who was attacked in the northwestern town of Adapazarı for speaking Kurdish, passed away after 50 days of hospitalization.

19-year-old Şirin Tosun, who was allegedly attacked by a group of six people for speaking Kurdish and shot in the head, lost his life on Oct. 13 after being hospitalized for 50 days.

Şirin Tosun, who was an assistant for the Öz Diyarbakır bus company, was in the northwestern city of Adapazarı as a seasonal laborer to pick hazelnuts with his family. He was then attacked by a group of six people in the city center because he was speaking Kurdish. Tosun was hospitalized but lost his life after 50 days of treatment. His funeral took place in the Kaygusuz (Hecika) village of Dicle.
