A thousand words that people will use to describe Osman Kavala will be released on July 27 that marks 1,000 days in prison for the philanthropist, businessman and human rights activist.

A collective and anonymous online effort, the project will depend on participants to use one word they would choose to describe Kavala.

"We stand with Osman Kavala, whether we love and respect him as friends, or learned about his fate only later on. We protest his illegitimate, cruel and irrational detention on its 1000th day, by calling on you to come up with one single word that describes him best," said the organizers of the project.

Initially incarcerated for organizing the 2013 Gezi Protests, which were later dropped, Kavala is now imprisoned on charges related to organizing the 2016 failed coup attempt that's widely believed to have been masterminded by U.S.-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gülen.
