In Istanbul, where winter precipitation levels fell below expectations, the dam reservoirs continue to experience declining water levels due to the hot weather, with only 24.97% of their capacity filled as of Sept. 19, according to Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ).
The current occupancy rate was recorded as the lowest value of the last one year. This rate was around 30 percent during August.
The current occupancy rate in Istanbul's dams has been the lowest value measured since 2014. The filling rate in the dams was measured as 51.95 on this date last year and 53.35 percent in 2021.
The mega city's dams have also recorded the lowest annual rainfall rate (kg/m²) in the past decade.
