Support for Turkey's former Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan is higher than the country's former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, a poll said.

According to Ada Research, some 9.5 percent of those participating in the survey said that they would vote for Babacan, while support for Davutoğlu remained at 8.6 percent.

Carried out between Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 with a total of 1,700 participants over the age of 18 in 26 provinces, the survey aimed to evaluate the thoughts and perceptions of the society regarding the events that shaped Turkey's agenda in October.

The participants were asked whether they would vote for the parties founded by Babacan, Davutoğlu or main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmaker Muharrem İnce.

The lowest support among the aforementioned three names was for İnce with 7.6 percent.

Babacan on July 8 resigned from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), of which he was one of the founders, over “deep differences” and has been continuing efforts to establish a new political party.

He served as economy and then foreign minister before becoming deputy prime minister, a role he held from 2009 to 2015.

Similarly, Davutoğlu resigned from the AKP and is continuing his efforts to establish a separate party.

According to the survey, Babacan would receive the majority of the votes from the supporters of İYİ (Good) Party, the CHP and the Felicity (Saadet) Party.
