Former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu turned down an offer by opposition right-wing Good Party (İP) leader Meral Akşener to transfer members to Future Party if they failed to fulfill the requirement for the minimum number of members to join the general election. Former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu turned down opposition leader Meral Akşener's offer to transfer MPs to the new Future Party in case they didn't have enough members to run for elections.
"I've never resorted to nontraditional methods in politics. I don't think there will be a need either. If we're in a difficult situation, we will meet with everyone and form a democratic coalition," Davutoğlu said.
Opposition right-wing Good Party (İP) leader Akşener made an offer earlier this month to transfer members to Future Party if they were unable to fulfill the conditional number of members to enter the general elections, like İP had.
Davutoğlu also responded to Akşener's assumption that being a former member, Davutoğlu would not join a coalition with the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), which she said would gear them into a coalition with İP.
"We might be outside of AKP now but we will still support any moves on their part that we find to be correct, and we will refute whatever we disagree with," Davutoğlu said.
