The Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has said that it's launching "an all out struggle against fascism," saying that it's need in the face of "all out attacks."
HDP deputy leader Alican Önlü said that forces of democracy can't stand against "all out fascism" via using classic methods.
"We can't construct the new by using classic methods. That's why we are kicking off a new period. We'll create a joint ground of struggle with all the forces of democracy," Önlü told Mesopotamia News Agency, adding that Turkey is going through its deepest crisis since its foundation.
Önlü also said that party members discussed creating a "joint line of struggle" in the last Central Executive (MYK) meeting and are set to announce a document on building democracy on June 1. He noted that the HDP has been carrying out discussions for a long time on how to stop fascism and construct the new era.One third of young opposition voters in Turkey support pro-Kurdish HDP: Poll
"Our co-chairs will reveal the contents of the document. We'll release the document on stopping fascism and building democracy to all the peoples in Turkey. It's not going to be centered on a single subject. It's also not the unification of a number of issues under a single roof. Our aim is to make people act in their own areas," he said.
Saying that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is trying to remove forces of democracy out of picture and appoint trustees to the HDP's democratically won municipalities, Önlü noted that the government aims to "make people's resolve of resistance weaken."
"There is an attack on all forces of democracy, not just the Kurds. Every period's fascism has a characteristics. This time, it's 'green fascism,'" Önlü said.
He also slammed a recent bill that led to the release of thousands of inmates and convicts with the exception of politicians, journalists and activists, saying that the aim in releasing gang leaders is to establish illegitimate groups to counter social opposition.
