Turkish Family, Labor and Social Policies Ministry has said that it doesn't accept the lack of love as a reason for divorce.

In a book titled "Family and Marriage Life," the ministry said that the lack of love is not sufficient to get divorced if the couple has children.

"These days, couples exhaust the emotion of love quickly and see the lack of love as a reason for divorce. On the contrary, it's not sufficient if the couple has children. According to various researches, a couple's decision to end a marriage doesn't stem from the lack of love between them, but the lack of their ability to solve problems," ANKA News Agency reported the ministry as saying on Aug. 27.

"If the couples develop problem-solving and communication skills, unnecessary resentments would be prevented. Hence, it would help protect the love and communication between them," it added.

According to the ministry, the main contents of love are "good friendship, passion and commitment." It also suggested couples to hold hands and link arms in order for love to last longer.

The couples also need to "save time for each other, be willing to share their free time with each other and work towards protecting the passion and commitment between them."

The ministry listed suggestions to respect a spouse, including saying, "I love you, you matter to me."

"Gifts and flowers should be purchased and surprises should be made."
