Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) spokesperson Faik Öztrak has announced that he contracted the novel coronavirus.
Öztrak, 66, said that he is in good health and entered home quarantine. The CHP spokesperson also asked everyone who came into contact with him to get tested for the COVID-19.
"I have just found out that my COVID-19 test came positive. I am in good health right now. I will work from home for a couple of weeks. I thank everyone who showed concern for me. I ask everyone who came into contact with me without their mask on to get tested," Öztrak wrote on his Twitter account.
Yaptırdığım Covid-19 testinin pozitif çıktığını az önce öğrendim.— Faik Öztrak (@faikoztrak) September 9, 2020
Sağlık durumum şu an gayet iyi.
Fakat birkaç hafta evden çalışacağım.
Arayıp soran herkese çok teşekkür ederim.
Yakın zamanda benimle maskesiz temasta bulunanların test yaptırmasını rica ediyorum.
Öztrak has become the third high-profile Turkish politician to contract the COVID-19.
Binali Yıldırım, a lawmaker from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) who has served as minister and prime minister under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, had announced last week that he tested positive for the COVID-19.
Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA) chair Ali Babacan had also announced that he was infected with the virus.
