The main cause of the world's greatest evils are people that do not believe in the afterlife, Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) President Ali Erbaş said while speaking at a conference at a Turkish mosque in the German capital of Berlin this week.
Erbaş said that there were people in Turkey that considered themselves to be Muslims, but did not believe in an afterlife:
“What sort of thing is this? What kind of Islam? Someone who does not believe in the afterlife cannot be a Muslim,” Erbaş said.
“The world's biggest blessing is to be the owner of an Islamic identity. The pens and books will not fall from the hands of the children of this nation. During the years that we have pens in our hands, we will be guides for the world,” Erbaş added.
Erbaş also warned against the dangers of smartphone addiction:
“The telephones in our hands are not just telephones, apart from that they are used for many things and they result in addiction. If it is for something that is addicting and harmful than that is a bad piece of information,” Erbaş said.
