Turkish directorate monitors wildlife with camera traps

Turkey’s Nature Conservation and National Parks General Directorate has been monitoring a total of 650 protected species with camera traps, bird-ringing and GPS-GSM collars.

Turkey’s Nature Conservation and National Parks General Directorate monitors wildlife with camera traps, bird-ringing and GPS-GSM collars, according to reporting by state-run Anadolu Agency.

The directorate identifies conservation strategies by monitoring a total of 650 protected species.

With the Wild Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centers built at the regional level, the directorate also treats wild animals injured in nature and releases them to their habitats.

Approximately 7,600 tons of food support has been provided for wild animals that have difficulty finding food due to severe winter conditions since 2012 by the directorate. 

In addition, it tries to provide water to wild animals that cannot access water due to seasonal and terrain conditions by ponds and boreholes.
