Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on Aug. 23 participated in the graduation ceremony of the Gendarmerie and Coast Gard Academy.

Soylu addressed the newly graduated military officers during the ceremony, urging them to start their duties by performing ablution (the Islamic act of washing certain body parts prior to praying) and cite prayers.

“I ask of you just one thing. Do justice to your profession. When you are going on your duty, for God’s sake, do it having performed your ablution. Go on with (the Quranic verse of) Ayetel Kursi. Know that the Omnipotent God is your protector,” Soylu said.
