Turkish police detain mafia boss Peker's lawyer, nine others

The attorney of mafia leader Sedat Peker was detained on June 29, alongside nine others across four provinces. Peker has been in the spotlight in recent weeks for a series of revelations about the government's illegal operations, particularly incriminating Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

Mafia leader Sedat Peker's attorney was detained in a cross-provincial operation on June 29, along with nine members of Peker's criminal organization.

The 10 suspects were detained in relation to a murder that took place in Istanbul in 2017, for which four others were detained shortly after.

New findings came to light about the murder of a victim identified only as C.Ç., and detention warrants were issued for 13 suspects, 10 of whom were detained. 

Police also seized three unlicensed weapons, two swords over 30 inches in length, and 12 checks that amounted to a total of 915,000 Turkish Liras. 

The investigation into Peker's organization is reportedly ongoing. 

The mafia leader has been in the spotlight in recent weeks as he started releasing YouTube videos including revelations about the Turkish government's illegal undertakings, most notably Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.
