Turkish social media influencers probed for organizing lotteries without legal permission

Several social media influencers have been summoned to the Istanbul Police Headquarters for organizing online lotteries among their followers without getting the permission of the Turkish National Lottery (Milli Piyango).

Turkish authorities have launched investigations into 18 social media influencers for organizing lotteries among their online followers without getting the permission of the Turkish National Lottery (Milli Piyango), Demirören news agency reported on Aug. 26.

Among the probed individuals are very well-known figures from YouTuber and actor Enes Batur to internet celebrity and singer Reynmen.

The 18 people were summoned to the Istanbul Police Headquarters for their testimonies, as part of the investigations launched by the financial crimes unit of the police.

While the tesimonies of Damla Altun, Başak Karahan, Doğan Kabak, Ferit Karakaya and Cantuğ Özsoy have been completed, 10 others, among whom are Enes Batur, Sezgin Yılmaz and Tamer Yeşildağ, are expected to go to the Istanbul Police Headquarters in the later hours.
