The mainstream Habertürk news channel broadcast its daily iftar bulletin, showing fast-breaking times across Turkish provinces, with a Soviet anthem playing in the background.

The bulletin is broadcast every day throughout the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan and triggered social media reactions.

Habertürk had played the march last year during Ramadan too.

“Habertürk is broadcasting the iftar times with the Soviet Union anthem again. It was like this last year, too. It is like a summary of ideological clashes in the country,” journalist Berkant Gültekin said on Twitter.
