Some people came to vote with their pets at Çankaya High School in the capital Ankara's Çankaya district.

Rasim Işık, 46, who lives in Muratpaşa district of southern Antalya, voted with his parrot "Paşa" on his shoulder at Gazi Anatolian High School.

In western Bursa province, artist Bülent Akay cast his vote in the costume of "Hacivat", the traditional shadow play character he plays.

Theatre actor Bahtiyar Keskin also went to the polls wearing a Karagöz costume in Bursa. Karagöz and Hacivat are lead actors in the traditional shadow play.

Election officials identified Keskin by removing his hat and beard.
