15-year-old shepherd 'shot by soldiers' in southeast Turkey

A 15-year-old shepherd was injured by soldiers' gunfire in the early hours of the morning on July 17, Mesopotamia Agency reported. The teenager was taken to a nearby hospital and is reportedly receiving intensive care.

A 15-year-old shepherd named Azat Bağa was reportedly injured by nearby soldiers' gunfire in the southeast province of Van and is being treated in a nearby university hospital, Mesopotamia Agency reported on July 17.

A witness reportedly saw Bağa get shot by soldiers' fire in the early hours of the morning as he overlooked a herd of sheep he had taken out to graze.

The eyewitness notified Bağa's family, who then transported the teenager to a nearby hospital.

Bağa was shot in his back and is reportedly receiving intensive care.

The Bağa family sought help at the Van offive of Turkey's Human Rights Association (IHD) and will be taking legal action.
