A new wave of snowfall is set to start impacting Istanbul on March 18 and last until the weekend, the Meteorological General Directorate has said.

Heavier snowfall will arrive on March 19 before the weather gets warmer on March 21.

Last weekend, heavy snowfall crippled life in Istanbul and many other provinces in Turkey.

Citizens were urged to stay indoors and not leave their houses unless necessary.

Turkish Airlines cancelled over 200 to and from Istanbul’s two airports on March 10 due to the snow.

Schools and universities were also closed in Istanbul.
