The Boğaziçi Jazz Choir won the top prize at the 56th Barcelona International Choir Festival, which was held between July 5-11, announced the choir's conductor Masis Aram Gözbebek.

The choir performed Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo's well-known piece Unicornis Captivatur, which brought them the first prize in the mixed choirs category.

The choir members worked under the baton of Gözbek from 2007 to 2011 as part of Boğaziçi University Music Club (BUMC).

The choir then parted ways with Boğaziçi University in June 2011, when a mini-concert they gave at a subway caused a huge effect both on social media and also on local and foreign press.

Boğaziçi Jazz Choir is currently functioning independently from the BUMC Jazz Choir.
