CHP leader slams MÜSİAD for hosting factory owner after deadly blast, says 'You're feeding on human flesh'

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has slammed Turkey's Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) for hosting the owner of a factory a day after seven workers were killed in a blast.

"You're feeding on human flesh," Kılıçdaroğlu said on July 7 to slam MÜSİAD.

Seven workers were killed in the blast on July 3 at the fireworks factory that reportedly occurred as a result of severe negligence. Over 100 workers were also wounded in the blast.

This wasn't the first time that a blast took place at the factory, but the owner kept on operating after changing the name of the company.

As workers were in hospitals, MÜSİAD hosted the factory owner "to cheer him up" on July 4.

Kılıçdaroğlu on July 7 commented on the negligence claims, saying "The factory's past is not clean."

"The name of the factory kept changing after the blasts and the owner was able to run it again. MÜSİAD head and the factory's owner met at a dinner even before the burials and shared pictures of it on social media. You're feeding on human flesh," he said.

"The initial reports showed that the buildings in the complex weren't constructed properly. The ventilation system was insufficient and regulations against fire weren't implemented. The interior minister says they were controlled. As a minister, you should suspend those who carried out the controls," Kılıçdaroğlu added.

Noting that the factory owner was the first person that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called after the blast, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "He thinks he has enough votes in Sakarya."
