Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Feb. 26 scolded Rüya Akkuş, a reporter from pro-government A Haber, while answering the questions of journalists.

Akkuş first asked Erdoğan about the government-ally New Welfare Party’s (YRP) attitude for the local elections, which nominated mayoral candidates in key provinces.

“You also know the attitude of them. In many places, their alliance with the People's Alliance is out of the question. They nominated candidates who either left us or those who were against us,” Erdoğan said.

Then, Akkuş reminded Erdoğan of a previous remark of him, and said “You used the term 'circus acrobat’ for them…”

“I didn't mention their names. Rüya, come to your senses,” Erdoğan replied.

The moments went viral on social media.
