Göbekli Tepe most popular virtual museum tour in Turkey amid COVID-19 isolation

The ancient site of Göbekli Tepe, portrayed in Netflix's The Gift, is the most visited virtual museum since March. Turkey's Culture and Tourism Ministry made museums and ancient sites available to tour virtually because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The ancient site of Göbekli Tepe in central Anatolia became the most-visited virtual museum in Turkey during the COVID-19 outbreak that started with the announcement of the first case March 11.

The Göbekli Tepe virtual ancient site was visited 255,150 times since March, the Culture and Tourism Ministry revealed.

Considered to be one of the oldest ancient sites in the world, Göbekli Tepe has been thrusted into the global spotlight by Netflix Turkey show "The Gift" that came out in December of 2019.

The virtual museums made available by the Culture and Tourism Ministry were reportedly were visited some 800,000 times since March.

The ancient site of Ephesus and Troy, the Museum, and the first parliament building were among the other popular destinations.
