HDP co-chair calls for dialogue among opposition to solve Kurdish issue

Pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Mithat Sancar has encouraged all opposition parties to approach the HDP to resolve the Kurdish issue.
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu recently suggested that his party could cooperate with the HDP to resolve the Kurdish issue in an unprecedented initiative that stirred debate.
Kılıçdaroğlu's suggestion to collaborate with the HDP on one of the oldest and most deep-rooted issues of the country received positive feedback from multiple opposition players, stirring debate around whether a mass opposition alliance would be possible in the upcoming general elections.
"The CHP made a suggestion, other parties expressed positive views in differing tones. They should come and talk to us. The HDP should present its suggestions. We don't need to be elected for that," Sancar told broadcaster Halk TV on Sept. 29.
The HDP would like to work with the opposition to present suggestions to parliament, Sancar noted, adding that they already have plans they could offer parliament alone.
