Man sexually assaults woman in elevator in Turkey's Istanbul

A man of foreign origin has sexually assaulted a woman in an elevator in Istanbul. He was detained after the incident.

A man of foreign origin has sexually assaulted a woman in an elevator in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul, Demirören News Agency reported on Dec. 14. 

Security footage dated Dec. 11 shows the 16-year-old man attacking the woman after following her to her home. The assailant is seen fleeing the scene after the woman resists. 

The woman, whose identity wasn't disclosed, then notified security personnel of the housing estate, who called the police. 

A.A. was detained shortly after and it was revealed that he sexually assaulted a child last year, but was released by a court nevertheless. 

Several local media outlets said that the man is Palestinian. He was arrested on Dec. 14.
