ODTÜ rectorate threatens students before annual Pride march
The rector’s office of ODTÜ has sent a threatening e-mail to students, announcing that it banned the annual Pride march scheduled for June 9.

The rector’s office of Ankara's prestigious Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) has sent an e-mail to students saying that it did not allow the annual LGBTI annual pride march scheduled for June 9 at 4 p.m., according to reporting by the online news report Diken.
In its June 8-dated e-mail, the rector’s office did not refer to the march explicitly by its name and argued that the march was organized by “a certain group.”
The rector’s office said that the march was against the law and if students were “insistent on the march,” “every kind of necessary security precaution” would be taken.
Last year, the annual Pride march at the campus was also banned, leading to the brutal intervention of the police. Some 38 students were detained as a result.
