Police detain local HDP politicians in Turkey's southeast

Turkish police on July 14 detained 33 people in a raid against Kurdish politicians in the southeastern province of Antep. eoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Provincial Branch head Musa Aydın, the district branch heads of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial chair, two village heads and a lawyer were among those detained.

Turkish police on July 14 detained 33 people in a raid against Kurdish politicians in the southeastern province of Antep.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Provincial Branch head Musa Aydın is among those detained as part of an ongoing Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) probe.

Early morning raids were carried out on 27 addresses under heavy special forces police presence and plenty of items in the said addresses were seized.

The district branch heads of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial chair, two village heads and a lawyer were also detained.

A day earlier, co-mayor of the Diyadin district of the eastern province of Ağrı, Betül Yaşar, was detained and was removed from her duty to be replaced with a trustee.
