Police detain woman for saying 'Turkey ruled by those who rob others'

A woman named Sümeyya Avcı was detained on May 19, shortly after she became well known online for a street interview where she said that Turkey was the country of those who eat others' shares, an expression in Turkish that means a person falsely claims things they're not entitled to.
Avcı became well known after a street interview she gave to YouTube channel Kendine Muhabir that was aired on March 30.
"We live in the country of men that voters who can't read the Quran elected because they could read the Quran. We live in the country of those who eat others' shares," Avcı was heard saying in the street interview.
A teacher who got ousted via a state of emergency decree following the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016, Avcı had widely criticized the government in the street interview.
"I'm being detained," Avcı tweeted on May 19, and a second tweet sent out shortly after said that she was detained for social media posts she created and that she would be kept in detention for 24 hours.
