Racist mob attacks Kurdish students at university premises in southern Turkey

A racist group has attacked Kurdish students at the campus of Akdeniz University in Turkey's southern province of Antalya. HDP Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş brought the issue to the agenda of the parliament, asking authorities to detain the assailants immediately.

A racist group consisting of about 30 people attacked three Kurdish students at the campus of Akdeniz University in Turkey's southern province of Antalya on Feb. 22, Mezopotamya news agency reported

Injured students Botan Artuç, Feyzi Akan and Hatice Tonğ were discharged from the hospital after their treatment, Antalya Free Student Initiative announced on Twitter. 

Speaking after the incident, a student said that their friends were attacked "just because they were Kurds."

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş brought the issue to the agenda of the parliament. 

She said that the assailants have not been detained yet. “We want that this racist mob be detained immediately and not be protected,” she said.
