Turkey briefly detains opposition İYİ Party leader's adviser over 2015 column
Opposition Good (İYİ) Party leader Meral Akşener's press adviser Murat İde was briefly detained on Oct. 8 for a column he wrote in 2015. The adviser slammed the detention, implying that the government was controlling the law enforcement, as well as the judiciary.

"A column from 2015. A lawsuit from 2018. A DETENTION from my hotel in Giresun, where I traveled for a program with the Chairwoman," İde tweeted at 1.43 a.m. on Oct. 8.
The press adviser implied that the law enforcement and judiciary were under the influence of the government.
"You're all over screens and newspapers, but there's a search warrant out in your name. No problem! The police is ours, and so is the prosecutor :)" the press adviser tweeted from the viewpoint of the government.
"Jokes aside, this is inappropriate," İde added.
Police have detained dozens of members of pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the past two weeks on the grounds of a lawsuit concerning the 2014 Kobane protests.
