Turkey detains 28 in anti-ISIS op in Ankara

Turkish police detained 28 foreign nationals in an anti-ISIS operation in the capital Ankara, Anadolu Agency reported on Oct. 28. 

Police issued arrest warrants for 33 foreigners and 28 of them were detained in an operation aiming to ensure security during the October 29 Republic Day celebrations and events that will be held on Nov. 10 to mark the death anniversary of modern Turkey’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. 

Efforts to nab the remaining suspects were ongoing. 

A day earlier, four ISIS suspects were detained in the western province of Afyon and another one, a Syrian national, was nabbed in the Central Anatolian province of Niğde.
