The Twitter account of Turkey's Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) was restricted on Nov. 9, amid parliamentary sessions around a critical labor law that the confederation opposed to.

"It's scandalous to suspend the account of a workers' union as debate around a critical law concerning workers is ongoing in parliament," said DİSK Communications Director Umar Karatepe as a response to the suspension.

The confederation had slammed the law for robbing workers of essential rights under the guise of an "employment package."

The law will make it impossible for one fourth of Turkey's workers to obtain severance pay, as well as to receive payment instead of notice of a layoff.
