Anchor of the evening news for opposition broadcaster Sözcü TV, Fatih Portakal on June 26 scolded the reporter of a news story by saying that “(Those who watch the news) do you like the voiceover? Do you like it? I did not like it.”

“I am responsible for everything because I am giving my name to this newsletter. That's why I would like to see the same practice, compassion and self-sacrifice in the content of the news and also in its vocalization. Because I am giving my name to this newsletter. Everything from montage to voice acting is my responsibility. Unfortunately, I take this responsibility on myself. I apologize to you for this voiceover too,” Portakal added during a live broadcast.

Portakal’s remarks stirred a huge reaction on social media as people criticized his attitude and said that it is not acceptable for him to criticize the reporter in front of millions of people

One user said “This is exactly what mobbing is. They prefer to disgrace and belittle what they think is wrong, rather than talking about it or telling the truth. Fatih Portakal monopolized the program and became the boss. What a pity.”
