Turkish Justice Ministry has dismissed a parliamentary question on the release of a rapist soldier for being "offensive." Uca in her question asked Justice Minister Abdülhamit Gül to reveal the reason for why former specialized sergeant Musa Orhan was released despite raping İpek Er. The ministry said that the question can be accepted if the terms found "crude and offensive" are removed.

Turkish Justice Ministry has dismissed a parliamentary question on the release of a rapist soldier for being "offensive."
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Feleknas Uca said that the ministry found the question "crude and offensive" and sent it back.
Uca in her question asked Justice Minister Abdülhamit Gül to reveal the reason for why former specialized sergeant Musa Orhan was released despite raping İpek Er, a Kurdish woman who died on Aug. 18 a month after committing suicide in the southeastern province of Batman because of Orhan's sexual assault.
Orhan remained behind bars for only one week despite the gravity of the crime. He was sacked from the military later on.
"Are the crimes of sexual abuse of specialized sergeants in the Kurdish-majority provinces coincidences? Are the sexual abuses in Kurdish provinces being overlooked?" Uca asked.
The ministry said that the question can be accepted if the terms found "crude and offensive" are removed.
