Turkish main opposition deputy breaks world record on running the longest parliament session

Turkish Deputy Parliament Speaker and main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Levent Gök broke a world record on running the longest uninterrupted session in a national parliament with eight hours and 13 minutes.

Turkish Deputy Parliament Speaker and main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Levent Gök broke a world record on running the longest uninterrupted session in a national parliament with eight hours and 13 minutes, Anka News Agency reported on July 1.

Gök’s broke the record during budget talks at the end of 2019. Some 38 lawmakers had spoken during the talks Gök mediated, as well as Education Minister Ziya Selçuk and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

After the negotiations were over on Dec. 15, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy Ahmet Aydın had told Gök that he himself had broken this record with seven hours before.
