Turkish man discovers tunnel from medieval period while digging cesspool
A Turkish man has discovered an 80-meter underground tunnel from the medieval period while digging a cesspool in the southeastern province of Adıyaman.

A Turkish man found an underground tunnel from the medieval period while digging up a cesspool in the southeastern province of Adıyaman.
The man named Hacı Güngör reported his discovery to the Adıyaman Museums Directorate, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Sept. 3.
State officials measured the length of the tunnel at 80 meters and noted that the structure split off in three directions, each of them around 20 meters long, although precise measurements weren't possible.
"Previous drilling activity in the area caused the tunnel to cave in at certain spots," Adıyaman Museum Director Mehmet Alkan said.
The Museums Directorate petitioned the Şanlıurfa Culture Heritage Protection Board to register the tunnel.
