University student detained for throwing cat from 5th floor of school in Turkey

A philosophy student Ferhat A. has been detained for throwing a cat from the 5th floor window of a school in Istanbul while proctoring for the IELTS examination.

Ferhat A., a philosophy student studying at Istanbul’s Mimar Sinan Fine Art University, has been detained for throwing a cat from the 5th floor of a school, online news outlet Habertürk reported on March 28.

According to some social media posts, Ferhat A. threw the cat named Faruk from the 5th floor while proctoring for the IELTS examination at a Terakki Foundation school in the Levent neighborhood. Moreover, he threatened students who wondered what happened to the cat and went to the window for not being able to take the exam again.

According to the posts, Faruk the cat had two broken legs and internal bleeding in a serious condition.

After the posts, a prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into the incident. The teams of the Environmental, Nature, and Animal Protection Bureau of the Public Security Branch Directorate determined that the proctor who threw the cat was Ferhat A., who was studying philosophy at Istanbul’s Mimar Sinan Fine Art University.

He has been then detained for throwing the cat out of the 5th floor window.
