Police fatally shot a 23-year-old man in Istanbul’s Beylikdüzü district after he failed to stop at a checkpoint. His family has said the identity of the police officer who shot him was not disclosed.

Police fatally shot a 23-year-old man in Istanbul’s Beylikdüzü district after he failed to stop at a checkpoint.
A bullet shot by the police struck Erhan Eser’s lungs from his back 10 minutes before he was pronounced dead in a nearby hospital.
Eser’s cousin, Fırat Eser, told Mezopotamya News Agency that Eser did not stop at the checkpoint while driving because he did not have a driver’s license.
He said there were “hundreds” of police officers present at the scene and did not do anything after shooting his cousin fatally. He added that his friends who were also in the car carried him to the hospital.
The identity of the police who shot Eser has not been disclosed.
