Turkish Industry Minister drives off track during 'test' for Formula 1

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank drove off the track while "testing" Istanbul's Formula 1 track ahead of the Nov. 15 race. The race will be returning to the city after a nine-year hiatus.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank drove off the tracks while "testing" the track in Istanbul Park on Sept. 7 before the Formula 1 race that's scheduled for Nov. 15 after a nine-year hiatus.

Varank appeared on the track with the 1968 Anadol A1, Turkey's first domestically-produced car.

Varank came in second to Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya who went on the track with a new generation car.

Varank said that the Formula 1 race excited the sports fans.

"We had the opportunity to test the track today, we made our final checks. The track is very nice. It is a very challenging track," Varank said.
