The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into what it said were “provocative” social media posts about the election results and voters in the earthquake region.

A written statement by the prosecutor’s office on May 15 said that the social media posts in question had a characteristic of “forming deceptive, unreal and wrong perception” and attempted to “damage public order and peace by sharing information contrary to truth.”
