Twenty-seven-year-old Mutlu Bilvar withdrew criminal complaints filed against her husband, Doğukan Bilvar, after he violently attacked her on two separate occasions: He stabbed her nine times and injured her with a shotgun in the Aegean province of İzmir, the daily Yeni Asır reported on Dec. 7.

Doğukan Bilvar stabbed Mutlu Bilvar in nine different places in April 2018. Later, in 2019, he permanently injured her with a shotgun while at her friend's house, where she was in hiding.

After Doğukan Bilvar was detained for the attacks, Mutlu Bilvar told police in 2019 that she was afraid her husband would kill her if he was released.

In 2020, Bilvar stated that she has chosen to "forgive" Doğukan Bilvar. She has recently visited him in prison and withdrawn her complaints against her assailant.

"I understand the reaction, but he's the father of my children and he apologized numerous times. I forgave him so that he won't receive a life sentence," Mutlu Bilvar told the daily Yeni Asır.

Meanwhile, 29 women were killed by men in Turkey during the month of November, while 10 died under suspicious circumstances, Turkey's We Will Stop Femicides Platform reported.
