12-year-old child drowns when trying to save lamb from lake in Turkey

A 12-year-old child has drowned when trying to save a lamb from a lake in Turkey's Konya. An investigation was launched into the incident.

A 12-year-old child has drowned when trying to save a lamb from a lake in the Central Anatolian province of Konya.

Mehmet Durmaz was out to feed a number of small cattle in the Ereğli district when one of the lambs fell into the lake, Demirören News Agency reported on Oct. 3. 

Durmaz then jumped into the lake to save the animal, but drowned. His father and sister reported the incident to the police, who recovered the child's dead body from the water. 

An investigation was launched into the incident.
