HDP MP cuts hair in parliament in support of Iranian women
HDP lawmaker Oya Ersaoy has cut her hair to show solidarity with Iranian women who have been protesting the brutal murder of Mahsa Jîna Amini by the morality police.

Turkey’s Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker Oya Ersoy on Oct. 5 cut her hair during the press conference she held in the Parliament to support the struggle for equality and freedom of Iranian women.
Ersoy stated that after 22-year-old Mahsa Jîna Amini was murdered in Iran, women all over the world were in revolt.
Ersoy said that more than 200 people have lost their lives and at least 5,000 people have been arrested since the women's resistance started in Iran, and that they stand with Iranian women. Ersoy further said that there is inequality and violence against women in Turkey as well.
Expressing that misogyny and male domination are common all over the world, Ersoy said: "We want equality and freedom for women in Iran, Turkey, everywhere."
Ersoy then cut her hair to "support Iranian women's struggle for equality and freedom.”
The 22-year-old Amini died in September after being arrested by Iran's morality police for allegedly wearing a headscarf in an "improper" way. Since then, Iranian women have been organizing protests across the country.
