A Turkish man has sent a thank you letter and 50 liras ($5.7) to Sinovac Biotech General Manager Helen Yang in a bid to show gratitude to the company for developing the COVID-19 vaccine.

Süleyman Yıldırım, who received the Sinovac vaccine in the southern province of Antalya, also sent postcards with pictures of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkey's founding father, on them, Global Times reported on June 1.

"Dear Helen Yang, I thank all scientists, doctors, and everyone working to develop a vaccine in these tough times on your behalf," Yıldırım said, adding that he sent the money in order for it to be used in vaccine works.

Sinovac’s CoronaVac is one of two vaccines available in Turkey against COVID-19, along with Pfizer-BioNTech’s.
