A group of over 50 people gathered to drift cars and party with belly dancers in the southern province of Antalya despite warnings to stay home amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The group consisting of 51 people threw a birthday party in the Kepez district late on April 1, prompting police to intervene in the incident.
A raid was carried out and the tire of a vehicle belonging to a member of the group was shot after his attempt to escape from the scene.
Police officers then aligned the group in two meter intervals to check their IDs, as officers warned them to stay home. They were fined 392 Turkish Liras each.Self-isolation 'problematic' in Turkey's east, southeast, Interior minister saysStudy shows correlation between socioeconomic status and levels of self-isolation in IstanbulIstanbul police raids coronavirus-themed party of 100 people
