Russian space agency Roscosmos is expecting Turkish authorities to reach out for a collaboration soon in the light of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's announcement of a new space program, Sputnik Turkish reported on Feb. 10.
"We are expecting concrete offers to develop our mutual space projects, including the preparation of the Turkish team and their travel to space," Russian officials reportedly said.
Turkey and Russia have "strong collaborative ties" in the space industry, Roscosmos said.
Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank had previously said that Ankara has met with officials from different countries.
The Turkish and Russian governments are reportedly working on legislation to regulate their joined efforts.
