Zaza is a language spoken by around two million people in Turkey. There has been a long-standing intellectual debate about whether Zaza is a separate language or one of the numerous Kurdish dialects.
While the ENKS and the PYD agree on certain topics, a deep gap remains between the two groups. And the American and French pressure will do little to close that gap. Moreover, Barzani’s ties with Turkey limit his capabilities. Given the KDP and the PKK were fighting each other in the Qandil mountains, how could the two movements unite on the Syrian front?
Kurdish singer Şivan Perwer has apologized from Yazidis after his remarks during an event organized by the Mesopotamia Culture Center and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul branch drew criticism. "I talked about how some practices are giving us pain and that how they shouldn't exist among us. If I offended people, I apologize. Yazidis are our dearest and our light," Perwer said on April 29.
Opposition deputies from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) put forward parliamentary questions denouncing the Turkish government’s efforts at demographic engineering to make Kurds a minority in towns where they are the majority. The parliamentary questions also claimed that destroying the demographics of an area constituted a crime against humanity.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has sent coronavirus test kits to southeastern Syria to help the Syrian Kurds in the fight against the highly contagious virus. "Utmost thanks and appreciation to the President of Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani," Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), tweeted on April 12.
