Turkish voters to cast ballots in seven constituencies tomorrow in municipal election renewal

On June 2, Turkish citizens will vote in three districts and four towns in the renewal of the local elections. Meanwhile, 212 neighborhoods will elect their heads (“mukhtar”) on the same day.

Voters in three districts and four towns in Turkey will cast their ballots in the renewal of the municipal elections on June 2.

Turkey’s Supreme Election Council (YSK) last month ruled for the renewal of the elections in these constituencies

The districts include Kayseri’s Pınarbaşı, Şanlıurfa’s Hilvan, and Aksaray’s Güzelyurt. The towns include Sivas’ Gğneykara, Kırklareli’s Büyükkarıştıran, Tunceli’s Akpazarı, and Aksaray’s Sağlık.

Meanwhile, 212 neighborhoods will elect their heads (“mukhtar”) on the same day.

Voters can cast their ballots between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time on June 2.

Turkey voted in the local elections March 31, resulting in a main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) victory after almost five decades. The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) became a second party in an election for the first time since 2002.
