Rapper Ezhel drops Kurdish freestyle on Instagram live

Rapper Ezhel from Turkey rapped a freestyle in Kurdish on an Instagram live broadcast on April 8, gaining extensive praise from his Kurdish fans. The rapper had previously shared a video of himself playing the folk instrument bağlama, and often voices his support for the Kurdish community in Turkey.

Rapper Ezhel rapped a Kurdish freestyle on an Instagram live broadcast on April 8 and gained extensive praise from his Kurdish fanbase.

Ezhel had previously shared footage of himself playing the folk instrument bağlama and often expresses his support for the Kurdish community in Turkey. 

Best known for his stage name Ezhel, Sercan İpekçioğlu was arrested on charges of encouraging and facilitating drug use in 2018, and the prosecutor sought up to 10 years for the rapper.

Ezhel was sentenced to 20 months in prison in 2019, and moved to Berlin in 2020. He's widely known for his oppositional stance against the government and solidarity with minorities.
